The magnificent haveli is an ancient structure constructed during the early 18th century. Salim Singh ki Haveli was once the residence of one of the dominant families of Jaisalmer, Mehta Family. The then Prime Minister of Jaisalmer, Salim Singh commissioned the architecture of this haveli. A pair of tuskers flanked over the gateways which are made of sandstone and carvings.

The mansion is known for its impressive architecture which is comprised of 38 beautifully carved balconies. The entire architecture was inspired by dancing peacock which is one of the most ambitious attractions in Jaisalmer.
