Jaisalmer Fort
The Golden Ornate in the city of the desert is amongst the largest forts in the world. Jaisalmer Fort was built by Maharaja Rao Jaisal, one of the mightiest rulers of Jaisalmer. The royal citadel is located on the Tirukuta Hill at the golden stretches of the Thar Desert. The majestic fort is also known as the Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort. The massive utilization of yellowish sandstone in its structural design gives it a golden-yellow tinge. Jaisalmer Fort is the world’s only lively fort which resides the 2/3rd of the old cities population.
From the past few decades, the fortress has undergone with several wars and battles which still withstand with the same pride as before. Jaisalmer Fort has engraved its name with golden letters in the glorified history of Jaisalmer. The architecture of the citadel is comprised of several monuments like Raj Mahal, Laxminath Shrine, Merchant Havelis, the flamboyant Jain Temples, and the gateways.
